About the Project
Antal Szerb's The Legend of Pendragon is itself a puzzle and a mystery, which is also a parody of the genre. When designing the cover I wanted to achieve this detective-like atmosphere, highlighting some of the characteristic figures and situations in the story, which at first glance the viewer cannot place, for example how an axolotl and a revolver are connected. These figures are tangled up in a tangled string, waiting for someone to untangle them and decipher their meaning. As the reader encounters these elements while reading the book, the cover slowly comes together and makes sense. In this way, the cover is not only "used" when the book is selected in the bookshop, but also provides an experience of discovery during reading.
